I am a self-taught computer user, blogger, researcher, seeker and html-coder. Although I can maneuver around my laptop with some finesse, this can be problematic at times because I think I am capable of more than I am and ultimately blame the computer rather than my limited abilities.

My first week of college classes began with a C-tech course that I am hoping will alleviate this limited abilities problem that more often than not results in using foul language. I like to think of myself as a level-headed and patient person, but if my computer could speak, well, he (notice he isn't a she, because if my computer were a she then we would be besties and "she" wouldn't cause me so many problems) anyway, HE would probably tell you that I am in fact going to benefit greatly from this class as I have several issues with navigating my laptop that include but are not limited to resting my writs on the mouse pad, deleting windows, and loosing documents.

In creating this blog, I have already learned that I only need to simply click "post" and not "create new blog" - wow I wonder how many random blogs I have out there - in order to write my thoughts.

I think a digital workspace is an excellent way of recording and filing important information. I have recently come across a device (television commercial) that actually scans all of your important documents and files them into your computer where they are easily retrievable by a single word or name. I would love to implement this into my home life as I recently looked in my THREE favorite "filling spots" for a receipt that could have been at my fingertips.

I enjoy Facebook and staying connected to my relatives and friends. Especially those living on the East Coast. However, I do not care to add Internet to my phone and hope this remains a long term goal as I don't want to become a twenty-second updater that takes pics of my dinner and cat feces just to have something to say. Hopefully, this blog will take care of that.

I set up a Pinterest account and have ten or so items on there. I like this AP, as it gives you that "filing" and "organizing" option of your thoughts, likes, future things to do and see, places to go and a place to dream. My Mom, on the other hand, has over 20,000 pins. I know those numbers are staggering in comparison, but Mom is retired and I'm... well... back in school... fighting my way through Algebra and wondering why I have to wonder about bottled water....at forty....

...until next week....

  1. Hi, Marilyn:

Thank you for setting up your blog and reflecting upon your experience. That is what these posts will be, you'll collect information from various resources and describe what you learned or observed during the experience.

I hope this class is a positive experience and leads you to become a more confident online researcher.

    Cheers,
    Andrea
